Ray Civello

For over 25 years, Ray Civello has been a progressive figure in the beauty industry. After starting a career as a stylist at one of Canada’s most notable salons of the time, The Rainbow Room. His talent and creativity launched him into the next phase of his profession as a much sought-after editorial stylist in North America and Europe. Immersing himself in the editorial world, Ray soon founded the first artist management agency in Toronto, extending his industry perspective and experience to help build and manage careers of other hair and makeup artists, stylists and photographers. In 1985, Ray’s visionary drive led him to found Civello salons in Toronto, Canada. A first-of-its-kind salon, spa, and retail space, Civello was opened with a mission to be image crafters committed to being forerunners in beauty and wellness, inspiring guests to look and feel their very best. Civello currently has five successful salons, four in Toronto and a west coast location in Vancouver, British Columbia.

With true entrepreneurial spirit, Ray has founded a number of other organizations and brands – advocating for industry education and innovation as guiding principles in every endeavor. In 1994, Ray established Collega International, a conglomerate of sales, salons, spas, retail stores, schools/education, and was the former sole distributor of Aveda products nationwide with over 15 Aveda retail stores and 6 successful concept salons. With new enterprises – Collective Beauty Brands and Color Space™ – disrupting beauty culture, Ray continues his legacy by offering transformative education to support superior clean, green and sustainable product offerings in the world of beauty.

Ray’s commitment to philanthropic and environmental causes has been a consistent source of inspiration over the course of his career – having held titles as Aveda’s Global and Creative Director and V.P. of Education, in establishing the Aveda Institutes Canada, and in creating his own successful brands founded on sustainable practices. Beyond the sphere of business, Ray has dedicated himself to supporting causes like access to clean water and education in developing nations, raising over $2 million towards these lifesaving initiatives. Passionate about photography for many years, and in the spirit of fundraising, Ray has published 2 of his own photographic books – Mucherla Global School and One Life – which have collectively raised $200K for charities that support these causes.

Today, Ray is proud to introduce his latest endeavor, Back Of Bottle ™ / BOB ™. Created with a collaborative spirit and an incredible team, Ray hopes this innovative line of 26 products positively influences beauty culture to seek cleaner and greener high-performance products.

“Whether it’s staying true to a natural state, or crafting whoever you want to be, we wanted BOB ™ to reflect that hair is made
to be malleable, and that versatility offers opportunities to be playful and explore what identity can mean- but most importantly, it’s about feeling good and using quality ingredients to create and refine the look that’s you.”
